Not Alone - Story behind the song

When I first sat down to write the lyrics for this song I first thought of a short story I first read about a year ago. No one knows who wrote it, but it's about a soldier with PTSD and all these people that try to help him but can't. The only one that can actually bring this guy out of his dark hole is a fellow soldier that also suffers from PTSD and knows how to beat it.

What's really interesting about the lyrics I find is that those lyrics can really apply to any part of our lives. How sometimes we find ourselves down in the dumps and we rely on family, friends, neighbors, to come along and pick us up out of our slump. That's really what this song is all about and what inspired me to write it.

Many times I've found myself in that exact situation.

The tempo of the song is slow, and starts off with a sparse, single guitar to set the tone of loneliness. It gives us something to look forward to. Then during the chorus the song fills in with more instrumentation, more guitars and some string and atmospheric pad elements to warm up the mood and make it feel more "whole" again like we do in life during our happy moments. The second time we hear the chorus, it's even bigger, happier, and more fulfilling.

I had a lot of fun writing and recording it and I really hope you enjoy listening and whatever problems in your life that you may be battling, just know that there's someone out there that can walk with you... sometimes that's all we need.
